The Reset Table

Once a week, set a table. No phones, no screens, no rushing. Made-on-purpose food, eaten slowly, with the people you live with. The reset is not about the food. It is about the table.

Most modern eating is fragmented, at the desk, in the car, in front of a screen, alone. The body digests poorly under those conditions. Tooth wear from quick chewing. Reflux from rushed meals. Cavities from grazing on snacks throughout the day.

The reset table is a weekly antidote. The food doesn't have to be elaborate. The point is the table, set on purpose, sat at on purpose, kept long enough to actually finish a conversation.

  • Pick a day. Sunday dinner is the obvious choice.
  • Make the food in advance, not at the last minute.
  • Phones in another room.
  • Sit until everyone is finished. Talk.
  • Notice digestion, sleep that night, and how the next morning feels.
